What's New?
The Hyundai Creta facelift has been launched in India with prices starting from Rs 11.00 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The popular compact SUV receives a comprehensive update for 2024 bringing with it a new, more squared-off look, an overhauled cabin, new features and the more powerful turbo-petrol engine from the Alcazar.
Starting with the design, the Creta facelift for India has notable differences to the model that has been on sale in global markets for the last few years. The India-spec SUV gets a more squared-off front fascia than the Tucson-inspired front of the Creta facelift on sale in some overseas markets. The India-spec SUV gets a prominent rectangular grille with a segmented LED lightbar running along the upper edge. The main headlamps sit lower on the bumper which features a prominent faux skid-plate element to add a more muscular look to the SUV. The rear too gets notable updates with a redesigned tailgate and a new slimmer taillight replete with a light bar. The rear bumper too features prominent cladding and a skid plate element.
The interior too gets a notable overhaul with a redesigned dashboard. Like the Seltos facelift, the 2024 Creta also now features a widescreen display atop the dashboard housing a digital instrument cluster and the central touchscreen. The dashboard also features heavy use of soft-touch materials along with redesigned air-con vents and new controls for the air-con system low on the centre console.
Coming to the features, the Creta now packs in tech such as a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, powered driver seat, Bose audio system, blind spot monitor, ventilated front seats tyre pressure monitoring and more. On the safety front, six airbags along with ABS and ESC are standard while top variants now pack in Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Moving to the engines, the familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engines have been carried forward both offered with manual and automatic gearbox options. The 1.5 NA petrol comes with either a 6-speed manual or CVT gearbox while the diesel is offered with either a 6-speed manual or torque converter automatic unit. Additionally, the discontinued 1.4-litre turbo-petrol has been replaced by the new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol mill from the Verna with the unit paired with a 7-speed DCT unit as standard. Full powertrain details are as follows:
Expert Review on Hyundai Creta
Pros
- Lots of Features
- Varied Engine Options
- Spacious
Cons
- Hard Plastics in Cabin
- Long Waiting Periods
- Build Quality doesn't match the premium feel of competitors
The Hyundai Creta stands out as a compelling choice in the compact SUV segment. With its stylish design, well-appointed interior, and a host of features, it offers a strong value proposition. The vehicle delivers comfort, and its range of engine options caters to diverse preferences. Hyundai's commitment to safety is evident in the array of advanced safety features integrated into the Creta.
On 16 January 2024, Hyundai introduced the facelift version of its highly popular midsize SUV car in India, the Creta which is built on the success of its predecessor. It addresses the original model's shortcomings while enhancing its strengths. With over 9,00,000 units sold, the Creta has been a top choice in its segment. The 2024 update brings a new look, revamped interior, more features, and Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The 2024 model finds a balance between new-age and conventional styling. It features a larger grille with unique details, an entirely new lighting arrangement, and LED Daytime Running Lights. The side profile remains largely unchanged, but the tail has been redesigned for a more angular look with full LED tail-lamps and a full-width light bar. Six paint options are available, with the new Robust Emerald Pearl as a standout choice.
Hyundai has redesigned the Creta's dashboard, incorporating a 10.25-inch touchscreen that flows into a new digital driver's display. The dual-tone grey interiors vary across variants, with differences in seat upholstery. Notable features include a powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, an air purifier, panoramic sunroof, and a Bose sound system. The absence of wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple Car Play in versions with the larger touchscreen is a miss.
This 2024 Creta has an enhanced body shell for improved crash protection and complies with India's latest crash test norms. Standard safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and tyre pressure monitors. Top-spec variants add Level 2 ADAS functions like lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and auto emergency braking.
The Creta offers three engine options: a 115hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 116hp 1.5-litre diesel, and a new 160hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol. The turbo-petrol unit is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch auto transmission. Drive modes and terrain modes are available, though it remains front-wheel drive.
Creta offers comfortable ride quality with a hint of firmness at low speeds. It drives confidently at higher speeds, with predictable handling and good braking performance, though more feedback at the pedal would be desirable.
The 2024 Hyundai Creta range starts at Rs. 11 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level petrol-manual and goes up to Rs. 20 lakh for the fully loaded turbo-petrol and diesel-automatics. There are 19 variants in total, catering to a wide range of budgets.
The New Creta offers a range of combinations to cater to different needs. The cheapest variant is the E, which is priced at ex-showroom of Rs. 11 lakhs. The most expensive variant is the Hyundai Creta SX (O) Turbo DCT, which costs ex-showroom at Rs. 20 lakhs. The Creta is available in both petrol and diesel engine options, with a range of manual and automatic transmissions. However the choice of variant will depend on individual preferences for features, engine options, and budget.
The Hyundai Creta continues to face competition from other midsize SUVs like the Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and MG Astor. But its appeal lies in its balance of features, space, and overall driving experience. Offering a well-rounded package that's now even more appealing with the latest updates. Its spaciousness, feature-rich interior, and satisfactory driving experience make it a top contender in its segment.

A Real Good SUV

I have been driving this Car for a Year, to tell you the facts i learnt my driving on this car with an 'L' board [bit funny for a Creta to have an L] when i drove other cars i did feel the difference - My Creta did actually help me learn quick [20 days i was driving in traffic] Due to the power - you just need to put the car in gear and just release the clutch it starts rolling and keep switching the gears upto the 5th without any accelerator you can touch 45-50 - i have tried this on others but they just shut down. Also you don't need to press down the accelerator much just a feather touch and the car just responds with power the max speed that i have reached on this is 186 kmph and due to a sudden diversion in the road had to break at once and it did come down to <60kmph in a very short distance as was able to avoid the barricade - i actually though it was done for me I have traveled long distances in this you don't feel any discomfort even after 8 hrs of constant driving, even in City its really comfortable Do agree that on a mud road with bumps its not that comfortable but its a car for the city and highway and you will love the drive and the cabin comfort Mileage factor: in city i get between 13.5 to 15 KMPL and on the highway i did get around 17-19 KMPL at a speed of 110-120KMPH, if you travel in the 80-100KMPH you get a better mileage
