The Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE is Suzuki’s latest middleweight adventure bike, built around an all-new 776 cc, parallel-twin engine. Showcased at the Bharat Mobility Auto Show in February 2024, the V-Strom 800 DE is expected to be launched in India in the coming months. Suzuki's middleweight adventure motorcycle lineup consists of three models, with the Suzuki V-Strom 800 serving as the base street-oriented option. Introduced in the 2024 lineup, alongside the V-Strom 800 Touring and the dirt-capable V-Strom 800 DE, the V-Strom 800 is tailored for tarmac riding.
One notable feature is its cast alloy wheels, including a 19-inch front wheel, highlighting its street-focused nature. The rear features a 17-inch alloy wheel with tubeless tires at both ends. Braking components include radially mounted calipers, and suspension travel is slightly reduced compared to the off-road-oriented V-Strom 800DE. Consequently, the V-Strom 800 offers a lower seat height and ground clearance for improved accessibility. Like its counterparts, the V-Strom 800 is powered by a 776cc parallel-twin engine with DOHC and a 270-degree crankshaft, continuing Suzuki's legacy that began almost 20 years ago with the first V-Strom model.
For India, Suzuki is likely to introduce only one variant of the new V-Strom range, the off-road focussed Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE. The Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE sits between the 650 XT and the 1050 XT internationally. It gets a new engine, a parallel twin 776 cc DOHC unit, which makes 82 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 78 Nm of peak torque at 6,800 rpm. The engine also gets four valves per cylinder, and a 270 degree crankshaft the Suzuki says will help deliver bottom end torque and traction for off-road endeavours.
The V-Strom 800DE gets a 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, which are wirespoked and shod with Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour tyres. The tyres, however, are not tubeless, which is odd, considering that the V-Strom 650 XT gets them! And it is on sale in India too.
