Mahindra Bolero Pik-Up
The Mahindra Bolero Pik-Up is a sturdy and reliable vehicle that is mostly tailored for commercial and business operations along with transporting heavier loads. It is a popular pick in the category and comes at an attractive price point.
How is the design?
The design is somewhat pleasing, since the front fascia resembles a Mahindra Bolero. This includes the grille and vertical elements in black, along with the revamped bumper and headlamps. There are cornering lights for helping drivers as well. The rear is just akin to a pick-up truck and the overall look is rugged, sturdy, and quite attractive in more ways than one.
How does it perform?
Diesel | 2523 cc | 56 kW | 200 Nm |
The Bolero Pik-Up gets two variants, namely the Extra Long 1.7T and the Extra Strong 1.3T. The former is even more powerful and tougher. It has the biggest payload capacity in the industry at 1,700 kg, along with the biggest cargo deck of 2765 mm and 56 kW of power. It comes with the m2DiCR 2.5 litre engine that makes 2523 cc and 56 kW along with 200 Nm of maximum torque, paired to the 5-speed gearbox. The 1.3T comes with 1,300 kg in payload capacity along with the 8-leaf rear suspension setup, larger tyres, double bearing axle that is more durable and a stronger frame. There is a 1500 kg payload version as well. It has a loading area of 2540 mm as well. The same engine is used.
How’s the mileage?
The Mahindra Bolero Pik-Up offers best-in-class mileage at 14.3 kmpl as per the company’s claims.
How’s the driving experience?
The Bolero Pik-Up drives better than before, with its tougher body, robust suspension system, higher payload capacity and cargo decks, along with bigger tyres. There is the strong chassis and even more robust metal bumper. The 8 leaf-rigid spring suspension does a good job of tackling bad roads while there are more durable axles as well. The Pik-Up does a good job of remaining stable and in control while carrying heavy loads as well. The car has a smaller turning radius of 6.5 m which ensures better drivability as well. The power steering is also comfortable, while the gears shift smoothly like a regular SUV as well.
What’s the interior like?
The dashboard gets several nice additions including the lockable glovebox, phone holder and height-adjustability for the driver’s seat. There is also the Bolero’s digital instrument console. Seating is comfortable enough for two people. The key highlight is the aftermarket touch screen infotainment unit from Pioneer along with the Mahindra iMaxx telematics option with live vehicle tracking, vehicle health tracking, geo-fencing, fuel log, route planning, and a document wallet as well. There are floor mats and a mobile charging point along with a provision for installing speakers as well. The co-driver seat gets a headrest and recliner and is wider than before while the driver has a reclining and sliding seat as well. The dual tone interior theme is also a nice touch.

Which cars compete in this segment?
The Mahindra Bolero Pik-Up primarily competes with the Tata Yodha in this category, although it does have an edge with its Bolero DNA, improved features, and competitive price point. The Isuzu D-Max is costlier and is more of a lifestyle pick-up truck.
